Kanye paid Kim $1 million not to publish Instagram post

Kim Kardashian has claimed her husband Kanye West gave her a cheque for US$1 million ($139 million AUD) for agreeing not to publish an Instagram post promoting a competitor of West’s fashion label, Yeezy.

While appearing on model Ashley Graham’s podcast Pretty Big Deal, Kardashian explained that she was offered a lucrative social media opportunity which caused somewhat of a conundrum in her marriage.

“A brand offered me a million dollars to do a post on some of their clothing and they typically, I don’t want to say who the brand is, but they typically knock off Yeezy,” she said.

When the reality TV star asked West how he felt about the offer, she said he told her: “No babe. I really don’t want you to do that.”

“Understandable,” Kardashian continued, “but that’s a lot of money.”

Having decided to hold off on adding to her approximately US$350 million ($487 million AUD) net worth, the KKW Beauty mogul recalled that she was rewarded with a gift from husband that she dubbed, “like, the cutest.”

“Mother’s Day comes and he happened to be recording out of town and I get my flowers and then I get an envelope delivered to the door,” she said.

“I opened the envelope and it was a million dollar check with a note saying, ‘thank you for always supporting me and not posting’.”

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star said she was also treated to part ownership of West’s Yeezy brand. Read more
