It seems to be the end of the road for a gang of notorious kidnappers that specialises in the sale of children. It was gathered that the syndicate were nabbed by the men of the Inspector General of Police’s Special Intelligence Response Team.
It was gathered that the suspects identified as Kenneth Anaba, Emmanuel Izuchukwu, Ikechukwu Ajagbu, Joshua Samuel, Emmanuel Azumara, Chinedu Samuel, Ukonu Anurika, Chidinma Okpara, Chimezie Okpara and Favour Christopher, were caught after members of the gang kidnapped a woman in September 2018, in Aba, Abia State, and collected a ransom of $13,000 (approximately N4.7m at the official exchange rate of N363 to $1) from the hostage’s relatives before she was released.
Apparently, this act was their final straw as the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, had received several complaints about the gang’s activities in the state. The IGP ordered operatives of the IRT headed by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, to track down the suspects.
