Kogi to host GOCOP 2024 Conference on power, insecurity and digital economy

The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has announced that its 2024 annual conference will be held in Kogi State on Thursday, October 3rd. This marks a significant milestone as it will be the first time the conference is hosted by a state.

The theme for this year’s conference, “Nigeria: Tackling Insecurity, Power Deficit, and Transitioning to Digital Economy,” reflects the pressing challenges facing the nation. The event aims to foster discussions and solutions around these critical issues.

A prominent technocrat with extensive experience in power management will deliver the keynote address, covering the entire spectrum from generation to distribution. Additionally, two guest speakers, experts in the digital economy and security value chains, have confirmed their participation, promising insightful contributions to the discourse.

The GOCOP annual conference has a history of attracting notable speakers. In 2019, Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, spoke on “Economy, Security and National Development: The Way Forward.” In 2021, Mr. Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, addressed the conference on “Post Covid-19 Pandemic: Recovery and Reconstruction in Nigeria.” The 2022 edition featured Professor Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who discussed “2023 Elections: Managing the Process for Credible Outcome.”

Last year’s conference in Abuja, themed “Nigeria: Roadmap for Socio-Economic Recovery and Sustainability,” was chaired by Professor Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), with Professor Uche Uwaleke, a Professor of Capital Market, delivering the keynote.

Advanced preparations are in place to ensure the success of the 2024 conference. More details will be released as the event date approaches, according to a statement by Sir Remmy Nweke, Publicity Secretary of GOCOP.
