Lagos celebrates Theo Lawson at 60

The Lagos literary and artistic establishment turned out in their numbers to celebrate Theo Lawson, architect, bon vivant, visionary and moving spirit behind Freedom Park, the eclectic art, literary and event space pat in the heart of Lagos Island.

The celebration led to a pause in screenings at iRep 2019 as guests bivouacked in front of the main stage to eat drink and pay tributes to a great man.

It was an evening of music, poetry, drama and tributes that saw friends and family eulogise a father, husband, gentleman and all-round good man known affectionately as “The Chief Warden.”

The event was professionally anchored by Nigeria’s finest compere, an entertainer par excellence who sang, cracked jokes and spoke French.

Guests included Yemi Ogunbiyi, Kunle Ajibade, Carol King, Joke Silva, Yeni Kuti, Bolanle Austen Peters, Pascal Ott, Chriss Nworbu, Steve Gukas, Kunle Afolayan, Mahmood Ali Balogun, Jahman Anikulapo, Emeka Mba, Steve Ayorinde, Toyin Akinosho, Steve and Yetunde Babaeko, Sunday Are, Toni Kan, Dafe Ivwurie, Lala Akindoju, Femi Odugbemi, Segun Adefila, Ropo Ewenla and many others.
