Lagos compensates victims of Badagry rainstorm with cash

Lagos State government has put smile on the faces of victims of the rainstorm that occurred in Badagry, when it gave cash support to those who suffered losses.

Those compensated were grouped into three, with those whose buildings were severely damaged getting N500,000, while those who suffered moderate and mild damages got N400,000 and N200,000 respectively. The four communities affected by the rainstorm are Iragon-thogli, Iragbo, Iragan-Igboiji and Kemu.

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Special Adviser, Culture, Mr. Solomon Bona, presented cash support to those whose buildings were damaged by the rainstorm.

He said the state government deemed it fit through the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) to compensate the victims, to alleviate their sufferings and reduce the negative impact of the incident.

He implored beneficiaries not to divert the money to marry new wives or to host parties, but that the money should be judiciously used to rebuild their damaged houses. (Guardian)
