Police arraign woman for murder of two-year-old boy (Punch)
The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned one Chinenye Ndubuife before an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court for the alleged murder of a two-year-old boy, Wisdom Promise.
The suspects were said to have hit the victim in the head with a stone.
According to police, the suspect committed the murder on December 12, 2018, around 1pm at 70 Lawani Street, Olodi-Apapa, Lagos, in the Ebute Meta Magisterial District. Read more
Man to die for matcheting neighbour (Nation)
An Igbosere High Court in Lagos on Tuesday sentenced a man, Ibrahim Tijani, to death by hanging, for macheting his neighbour to death following a quarrel about the fumes from his generating set.
Justice Adedayo Akintoye sentenced Tijani to death after finding him guilty of a one-count of murder.
The judge noted that the evidence provided by the prosecution, including the witnesses’ testimony, was compelling and credible. Read more
Lagos cart pusher stabs colleague to death during fight (Punch)
A cart pusher, simply identified as Mudasiru, is currently on the run after allegedly using a broken bottle to stab his colleague, Umaru, to death during a fight.
The incident happened in the Sabo, Yaba area of Lagos State on January 17, 2019.
Punch Metro gathered that Umaru, who sustained life threatening injuries during the fight, was on his way to the police station to report a case of assault against him, when he fell to the ground. Read more
Court remands pastor for defiling two boys (Nation)
A 28-year-old pastor, Seyi Adelana, who allegedly defiled two boys was on Thursday remanded at Kirikiri Prisons, Lagos, on the orders of an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
When the case was called up, the magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi refused to take the plea of the accused.
She ordered that the accused be kept behind bars pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Read more
Power-drunk DPO breaks Lagos carpenter’s hand, leg (Punch)
Punch Metro gathered that Akinboye, in company with Mr Rasaq Balogun and Mrs Modupe Ojediran, had gone to the station on Monday to recover six dozens of chairs that were seized during a raid by police operatives on Sunday following a clash by suspected cultists in the Ijora-Badia area of the state.
It was learnt that the clash resulted in the death of a suspected cult member, simply identified as Tansho, while Akinboye, who runs a rental business as a side trade, was said to be packing the chairs he had rented out to Balogun, when the policemen confiscated the chairs. Read more
Special Offences Court jails Internet fraudster 16 months (Nation)
An Ikeja Special Offences Court has sentenced an Internet fraudster, Temitope Alani Teslim, aka Hannah Ciar, to 16 months’ imprisonment for possession of fraudulent documents.
Teslim, 22, who specialised in ‘dating scam’, was arraigned before Justice Sherifat Solebo by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The convict was arrested by Nigeria Army Corps of Military Police last May 16 around Ogba, Ikeja, and was handed over to EFCC. Read more
Court remands teenager in correction home for defiling stepsisters (Punch)
A 14-year-old boy was, on Monday, remanded at the Oregun Correctional Home for Boys by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defiling his three step sisters.
The teenager, who resides in No. 11 Olayinka Adenubi Street, Mafoluku, in the Oshodi area of Lagos, is facing three counts of defilement, indecent assault and sexual abuse, while his mother, Ihuoma Oke, is facing a charge of parental neglect.
The teenager pleaded not guilty to the charges. Read more
Make-up artiste faces N242,000 theft charge (Nation)
An 18-year-old make-up artiste, Damilola Olarenwaju, was Wednesday arraigned at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing N242,000.
Olarenwaju, a resident of Mushin, Lagos, is being tried for stealing.
Prosecuting Inspector Aondohemba Koti alleged that the accused committed the offence on January 16 at Post Office, Mushin, adding that he stole the money belonging to Mrs. Tolulope Adepitan. Read more
