Teacher arraigned for sending nude pictures to pupil (Punch)

For allegedly sending nude pictures and videos to a 14-year-old pupil, a Mathematics teacher, Emmanuel David, was on Tuesday brought before the Lagos State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ikeja.

The 40-year-old teacher was arraigned before Magistrate B. O. Osunsanmi on one count of sexual harassment.

PUNCH Metro learnt that David allegedly harassed the pupil by sending love messages, pornographic pictures and videos to her and requesting her nude pictures and videos through WhatsApp. Read more

 

Court remands man for ‘raping’ teenager (Nation)

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on Wednesday remanded a 35-year-old man, Daniel Okodua, at Kirikiri Prisons for allegedly raping a 19-year-old girl.

Magistrate Mrs. B. O. Osunsanmi did not take Okodua’s plea.

Command arrests armed robbery suspect at church’s camp (Punch)

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Wasiu Kamarudeen, 19, of No. 8 Olaniyi Street, Iyalode Ilogbo, for trying to rob members of the St. Patrick Catholic Renewal Church, Jakande Open Field.

The church was said to be holding a three-day retreat on August 31 around 6.20pm when a motorcycle was seen conveying three passengers into the camp in a suspicious manner.

It was learnt that the church members, who were suspicious of the passengers, called the Ilemba Hausa Police Station, whose personnel raced to the scene to rescue the situation. Read more

 

Court remands three for alleged robbery (Nation)

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Monday remanded three men at the Kirikiri Prisons for alleged robbery and assault.

The accused, Taye Onafowokan, 23, Ayomide Ayobami, 22 and Leke Adebanjo, 20, whose addresses were not provided, are being charged with attempted robbery, assault and armed robbery.

Prosecuting Inspector Victor Eruada said the accused committed the offences on April 10, at Ikosi, Ketu bus stop, Lagos. Read more

 

‘Teenager stole my trousers while I was bathing’ (Nation)

A 19-year-old ticket vendor, Emmanuel Abraham, on Wednesday appeared at an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing a pair of trousers from a man bathing.

The defendant, whose address was not provided, is facing a four-count-charge bordering on conspiracy, breach of the peace and stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty. Read more

 

Three nabbed for defiling underage girls in Lagos (Punch)

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three men for allegedly defiling underage girls in various parts of the state.

PUNCH Metro learnt that one of the suspects, Fatai Nafiu, on August 31, allegedly had sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl on Adetoke Street, Bariga.

It was gathered that the 28-year-old suspect, who was arrested around 8.15pm on Saturday, confessed to the crime, while the victim was taken to hospital for treatment. Read more

 

Two arraigned for ‘threatening to kill’ (Nation)

Two men, Ismail Sanni, 35, and Goriola Junaid, 39, were on Monday arraigned at an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for allegedly threatening to kill the Chairman of Ferry Side, Ejalonibu, Ebute-Ero car park, Alhaji Mutairu Oke.

They were also alleged to have maliciously damaged his properties valued at N2million.

The defendants, of no fixed address, are facing a six-count charge bordering on conspiracy, malicious damage, stealing, threatening to kill and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace before Magistrate Mrs. M. A. Agbaje. Read more

 

17-year-old charged with attempted defilement of toddler (Nation)

An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State on Tuesday remanded a 17-year-old who allegedly attempted to defile a toddler.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Adeola Adedayo, who did not take the plea of the teenager, ordered that he should be kept at the Special Correctional Home for Boys at Oregun, Lagos.

Adedayo ordered that the case file should be sent to the state director of public prosecutions for advice. Read more

 

‘Estate agent to be prosecuted for N65m fraud’ (Nation)

An estate agent, who allegedly defrauded 262 prospective tenants of N65 million at Alapere, Ketu, Lagos, will be prosecuted, Attorney-General and Justice Commissioner Moyo Onigbanjo (SAN) has said.

He said in a statement on Wednesday that he has taken over the prosecution of the agent.

Lagos State Government in the statement titled: “Beware of fraudulent estate agents/developers”, advised residents to be careful by making enquiries before concluding property transaction with an agent. Read more

 

Two arraigned over alleged theft of N4.3m goods (Nation)

Two men, Felix Okani and Chibuzor Okeke, on Tuesday appeared before an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly breaking into a shop and stealing items worth N4.3 million.

Okani, 49, and Okeke, 32, are facing charges of conspiracy, breaking in and stealing.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge. Read more
