55-year-old father allegedly molested daughters for nine years (Punch)

A 55-year-old father, Eze Chukwuma, was on Monday arraigned before the Lagos State Special Offences Court for allegedly molesting his two daughters.

He was arraigned on two counts bordering on defilement contrary to Section 137 of the Criminal Law CH. C17. Vol 3, Law of Lagos of State, 2015.

It was gathered that the father molested his daughters, aged 16 and 17, between 2008 and 2017, at No 2 Agbeke Close, Iyana-Era, Coker bus stop, Ijanikin, Lagos. Read more

 

Chrisland school’s supervisor accused of defiling 2-year-old pupil sent to Kirikiri prisons (Nation)

Justice Sybil Nwaka of an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Monday revoked the bail of Chrisland School Supervisor, Adegboyega Adenekan standing trial for allegedly defiling a two-year-old pupil (names withheld) of the school.

Justice Nwaka revoked Adenekan’s bail for one day after expressing concerns that he might become a flight risk and not come to court at the next adjourned date fixed for Wednesday.

The judge took the decision after Adenekan was led in defense for over an hour by his counsel, Olatunde Adejuyigbe (SAN). Read more

 

Lagos developer defrauds 200 accommodation seekers of N50m (Punch)

The police have arrested a real estate developer, Alabi Idowu, for allegedly defrauding over 200 intending tenants in a newly-constructed building at No. 1 Karimu Street, off Oyebanjo Street, Alapere, Ketu, Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the developer allegedly also posed as the landlord of the building to defraud the prospective tenants to the tune of N50m.

The developer, while negotiating with the accommodation seekers, reportedly informed them that finishing touches had to be applied on the building before they could move into their flats. Read more

 

Man, 19, docked for allegedly stealing goods worth N756,000 (Nation)

A 19-year-old man, Wasiu Babatunde, on Tuesday appeared in a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos Statr for alleged theft of goods, valued at N756,000.

Babatunde, whose is not provided, is facing a charge of stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, ASP. Clement Okuoimose, told the court that Babatunde committed the offence with some others still at large on May 3 at No. 55, Palace Road Ilogbo Eremi Town in Badagry. Read more

 

Lagos bullion van driver nabbed for driving against traffic (Punch)

The Lagos State Task Force on Environmental, Sanitation and Special Offences, on Wednesday, arraigned a bullion van driver before the Lagos State Mobile Court sitting in Bolade, Oshodi, for allegedly driving against the traffic.

The bullion van driver, Mr Bamidele Ezekiel, was charged before Magistrate Lateef Owolabi for driving in a direction contrary to and punishable under Part (III), Item 27 of the Transport Sector Law of Lagos State, 2018.

Ezekiel initially admitted guilt when the charge was read to him, but when he was asked to affirm the plea, he changed it to not guilty. Read more

 

Police to charge house-help with murder of 89-year-old mother (Nation)

The Police will on Thursday prefer a double murder charge against a househelp, Joseph Ogbu, suspected of killing his employer Oreoluwa John, 38, and her 89-year-old mother, Adejoke John at their Lagos home last Thursday.

It was learnt that the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, which is overseeing the case, has concluded its investigation.

A close relative of the deceased told The Nation that the family was notified by the police that Ogbu, 22, will be brought before an Ebute-Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos today. Read more

 

Togolese cook bags life sentence for killing Credit Switch chair (Punch)

A Lagos State High Court in Igbosere, on Tuesday, sentenced 22-year-old Togolese cook, Sunday Anani, to life imprisonment for killing the Chairman of Credit Switch Technology, Chief Ope Bademosi, at his Parkview Estate residence in the Ikoyi area of the state.

Anani was convicted by Justice Mobolanle Okikiolu-Ighile after he pleaded guilty to one count of voluntary manslaughter.

PUNCH Metro had reported that Anani stabbed his boss with a knife on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, three days after he was employed. Read more

 

Clearing agent hacks bank’s application, steals customer’s N2m (Vanguard)

A 37-year-old clearing agent, Charles Ani, who allegedly hacked into a bank’s mobile application to steal a customer’s N2 million, was, on Wednesday, arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court sitting in Igbosere.

Ani, who resides at 12, Oremirin Street, Saint Mary Bus Stop, Governor Road, Ikotun, is facing a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, fraud and stealing, preferred against him by the Police.

The prosecutor, Inspector Abass Abayomi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 9, 2018. Read more

 

Robbers steal N30m jewellery from Lagos judge’s home (Punch)

For allegedly breaking into the home of a serving judge in Lagos State, Justice Mariam Emeya, and stealing jewellery worth N30m, six men have been arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court in Igbosere.

The defendants, Mujaudu Alawiye, 59; Achrigbo Sunday, 20; Emmanuel Frank, 23; Akintunde Jude, 28; Adeniji Bashir, 18; and Boniface Nneji, 52, were arraigned on four counts bordering on conspiracy, breaking and entering, and stealing.

The defendants had on May 28, 2019, around 12am, allegedly broke into the judge’s home in Chevron, Ajah. Read more

 

Alfa ‘defiles’ minor in mosque’ (Nation)

An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Monday remanded in prison an Islamic cleric, Abdulsalam Salaudeen, following his arraignment for allegedly defiling a five-year-old girl in a mosque.

Justice Abiola Soladoye remanded him at the request of the prosecutor’s, Ms T. Olanrewaju-Dawodu.

She adjourned till October 14 for trial. Read more
