 Man arraigned for killing four-year-old son with hot pressing iron (Punch)

A middle-aged man, Elvis Chris, was on Monday arraigned before the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja for allegedly killing his four-year-old son with a hot pressing iron.

Chris was arraigned on one count of murder before Justice Hakeem Oshodi by the Lagos State Government.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge. Read more

Court remands man, 43, for defiling 10-yr-old girl (Nation)

An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded a 43-year-old man, Chukwuma Smart, in prison for allegedly having carnal knowledge of his neighbour’s 10-year-old daughter.

The Chief Magistrate, Olufunke Sule-Amzat, who did not take plea of the defendant, ordered that he should be remanded in Kirikiri Prisons.

Sule-Amzat also ordered the police to send the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice. Read more

Motorcyclists apprehended for robbing Lagos residents (Punch)

Men of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested one Shefiu Aliu for allegedly posing as a commercial motorcyclist to rob two sisters, Grace and Deborah Williams, of their valuables in the Ayobo-Ipaja area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, said in a statement on Wednesday, that a surveillance patrol team from the Ipaja Police Station arrested the suspect while perpetrating the crime.

He added that a machete, which was concealed under the seat of the motorcycle, was recovered from Aliu. Read more

Hairdresser docked for pouring hot beans on neighbor (Nation)

A 40 -year-old hairdresser, Oladunni Ayeni,who allegedly poured boiling beans water on a co-tenant, on  Monday appeared in an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court in Lagos.

The defendant, who resides in Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos, is charged with assault.

The Police Prosecutor, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence on May 26 at her residence. Read more

Woman allegedly conspires with three others to kidnap husband (Punch)

The police in Lagos on Monday arraigned a 27-year-old woman, Elizabeth, who allegedly conspired with three men to kidnap her husband.

Elizabeth appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court on four counts.

She was charged alongside Ayinde, 28; Salisu, 45, and Ogunbiyi, 43. Read more

Unemployed man allegedly steals N68,700 to play Bet Naija (Nation)

A 24-year-old applicant, Samson Ojowuro, on Monday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing N68,700 to play Bet Naija game.

The defendant, who resides at No. 125, Ayobo Road, by Oja Bus Stop in Ipaja Lagos, was arraigned on a count charge of stealing, but he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

According to the police prosecutor, Sgt. Kenrich Nomayo, the defendant stole the sum given to him by one Mr Adebola Farimu to save in his account on May 20 at 9.00a.m. at Ipaja Market, Ipaja. Read more

Delivery men allegedly steal employer’s milk worth N23m (Punch)

Two delivery men, who allegedly converted their employer’s milk worth N23 million to their personal use, were on Thursday brought before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

The defendants, James, 47, and Sunny, 52, are facing three counts bordering on conspiracy, obtaining by false pretence and stealing.

Police prosecutor, Mr Augustine Nwabuisi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on May 3. Read more
