Lagos housewife accuses Access Bank of fraud says; “I don’t care for the money but it’s fraudulent behavior!”

A Lagos based housewife, Ikechi Ohagwa has accused Access Bank of fraudulent conduct.

The lady who spoke to thisislagos.ng noted that she is a longstanding customer of Access Bank where she operates three (3) accounts. On Friday December 17, 2021, Mrs. Ohagwa said she received a text message informing her that she had won one million naira in the ongoing Diamond Xtra promo.

Congratulations! You have won N1mn in the Diamond Xtra Mega Draw

Excited and yet not sure, she visited her bank branch at Ladipo Oluwole street in the Adeniyi Jones area of Lagos to verify the message.

According to her statement “the Customer Care staff told me the text was from the bank and were even asking me to do Christmas for them when I collect my money. They told me that I would get a follow up message.”

Five hours after she received that message Mrs. Ohagwa received a follow up message but it left her in shock. The second message from Access bank informed her that she had indeed won nothing.

We apologize for the erroneous message that you won N1m in the Mega Draw. Please ignore but you can still win as the promo ends December 25. Enquire on 0700 300 0000.

“I have been calling that number and not getting through. I don’t understand how a bank can inform a customer that she won a draw and then say it was an error without explaining what kind of error,” lamented Mrs. Ohagwa. “I don’t care about the money but if you say I won something stand by your word. This is fraudulent behaviour and destroys confidence in the bank and brand.”

Thisislagos.ng sent a letter to Abdul Imoyo of Access Bank on Monday December 21, 2021. The letter sent to his work email and WhatsApp were not responded to as at the time of going to press.
