The Lagos State Government has called on independent power producers and energy solution firms to submit bids for constructing gas-fired power plants to bridge the state’s persistent electricity gap.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, in partnership with the Office of Public-Private Partnerships, made the call for the initiative to enhance Lagos’s power supply through the Clean Lagos Electricity Market.

The statement was jointly issued by the Commissioner, Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources, Biodun Ogunleye and Special Adviser, Office of Public-Private Partnership, Bukola Odoe. Read more

The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) has adjourned the trial of three top officials of the Kaduna State government over alleged assets declaration to February 4 and 5, 2025.

Mr. Aruwan Samuel Peter, Mrs. Bada Nasara Joy Shizzer, and Mr. Abdullahi Tijjani Mohammed were being prosecuted for asset declaration breaches at the Tribunal following their arraignment by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

Aruwan Samuel is the Commissioner/Administrator of the Kaduna Capital Territory Authority, while Bada Joy serves as the Commissioner of Finance, and Tijjani Mohammed is the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board. Read more

It was announced on Thursday that Post and Shaboozey are among the artists who will take the stage at the 2024 Country Music Association Awards, which will be held at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on 20 November.

A man in his thirties has died after falling down the stairs of a double decker bus in Oxford.

He was travelling on an Oxford Bus Company vehicle near the city’s Westgate Shopping Centre on October 26 when he fell.

Lahore residents went about their lives in a twilight gloom that lingered over the city for hours, reducing visibility to around 100 meters (yards).

Toxic smog shrouded the city of 14 million people and other parts of Punjab since last month. It has forced the government to close schools and other public places until Nov. 17 and keep government employees at home in 18 of Punjab’s districts, including its capital city Lahore. Read more

A court in Melbourne, Australia, sentenced a local man to 30 days in prison Friday after becoming the first person in the state of Victoria to be found guilty of making an illegal Nazi salute but set him free on bail, pending an appeal.

High-profile White supremacist and member of the neo-Nazi National Socialist Network, Jacob Hersant was convicted of making the salute to the press in front of the county court in October 2023 just days after the state legislature passed laws banning people from making the gesture in public.

Melbourne Magistrates Court also heard that Hersant, 25, uttered the slogan: “Australia for the White man, heil Hitler.” Read more
