Lagos Police parade 14-year-old girl for killing toddler (Guardian)
Lagos State Police Command, Monday, paraded a 14-year-old girl, who strangled her mistress’ six-month-old son, Jayden Osokolo to death on February 6, 2022.
The suspect, Chiamaka Odo, confessed to being a member of the Ogoloma cult group in Enugu, Enugu State.
Odo, who was paraded alongside other suspects at the Command’s Headquarters, Ikeja, said members of the cult group requested her to bring the blood of the deceased to the spiritual world.
Also, the police arrested 27-year-old Desmond Igana who is the leader of the armed robbery gang in Ikeja on February 22, 2022, while he and other members of the gang were going for another robbery operation.

Oromoni: No proof of chemical intoxication – Pathologist (Nation)
A consultant pathologist at the Central Hospital, Warri, Delta, Dr Clement Vhriterhire, who carried out the first autopsy on Dowen College Student, Sylvester Oromoni Jnr., said there was no proof of chemical intoxication in his body.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Vhriterhire conducted the first autopsy on the deceased 12-year-old student on Dec. 2, 2021, in Warri.
Testifying on Monday before an Ikeja Coroner’s Court, the pathologist, while responding to questions from the Coroner, Mr Mikhail Kadiri, said contrary to social media reports, there were no signs of chemical intoxication found in the deceased.
The pathologist said his findings revealed that Oromoni died from acute inflammatory pneumonia due to severe sepsis. Read more

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has called on its newly-inducted executive members to give priority to justice and equity in their service to the people.
The Chairman of Lagos APC, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, made this call on Monday during the swearing-in held at the state’s party secretariat in Ikeja.
Ojelabi advised the executives to try to reconcile all interests in the party and work towards harmony.

Trade Fair dispute: Lagos CP urges BBA members to respect court orders (Sun)
The Commissioner of Police Lagos State, Abiodun Alabi, recently averted what would have led to a crisis at the Balogun Business Association, (BBA) International Center for Commerce (ICC) at the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex, Lagos, after he insisted that the police under his watch, will respect court orders and not interfere in the leadership dispute of the association.
In 2021, there was a dispute between a former President, Okechukwu Ezeibe and the current Caretaker Committee Chairman, Anselm Dunu, over the authentic leadership of the association. The ICC is run by the BBA, which was incorporated in 1990 under the leadership of its first President, Leonard Ogbonnia and subsequently registered with the Corporate Affairs with a Board of Trustees currently led by Tony Orbih.
The Ezeibe group was alleged to have conducted an election and insisted that those who emerged from its election were the authentic leaders of the association but the Dunu camp resisted, insisting that Dunu remains the caretaker committee chairman. The matter was taken to court and Dunu’s camp secured judgments against Ezeibe both at the Lagos High Court and the Federal High Court, Abuja.
In court documents seen by Daily Sun with suit no FHC/ABJ/CS/579/2021, Justice I.E. Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, ordered the warring parties to maintain the status quo and refrain from any act of self-help capable of undermining the pending case which is a contest over the leadership of the market. Justice Ekwo also ordered that the police must not be deployed by both parties and that until a decision is taken by the court, the police should stay in the market and maintain law and order and not go after any of the contending parties. KAP academy opens application for Film and Television production, e-learning training

KAP Film and Television Academy, in partnership with Mastercard Foundation’s Young Africa Works, has announced the opening of applications for its training in film and television production.
The Application, which is now open to young men and women between the ages of 20 and 35 across Nigeria, is targeted at people passionate about film and television production. Over the next three years, a total of 300,000 young Nigerians will be trained under this initiative.
Interested individuals can apply to register by visiting the KAP Academy website beginning from Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

Former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, is confident that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will crumble if he leaves the party.
Although Kwankwaso says he is not happy with the main opposition party at the present, he affirmed that he has yet to defect from the party.
He made the remarks during an interview on a Channels Television programme, Political Paradigm where he spoke about his political ambitions.

A plan endorsed by President Muhammadu Buhari to conclusively end the recent fuel scarcity around the country is in progress and is expected to ensure that no such scarcity repeats itself again in the country.
A presidency official who disclosed this over the weekend added that in a matter of days virtually every state in the country would have returned to a very low queue situation in the filling stations or a completely restored situation with no long queues anymore.
The plan which was presented to the Federal Executive Council (FEC ) last week, had been signed off previously by President Buhari before he left the country last week Sunday with clear goals that included a conclusive determination on the initial cause of the scarcity with attendant consequences imposed.

Dolly Parton has announced she is pulling out of this year’s nominations for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, saying she hasn’t “earned that right.”
The music icon who has been elected into the Country Music Hall of Fame explained her decision in a statement posted on her official social media pages Monday, noting she did not want to take votes away from the remaining nominees.
“Even though I am extremely flattered and grateful to be nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I don’t feel that I have earned that right. I really do not want votes to be split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out,” she wrote.

Selena’s Father Says a new album Is Coming 27 Years After Her Death (RollingStone)
A new Selena album featuring previously unreleased, digitally modified songs will drop in April via Warner Music, the late singer’s father Abraham Quintanilla said in a recent interview.
Speaking during a Facebook Live session with Latin Groove News’ Jose Rosario, Abraham shared that the album will contain 13 songs. Three of them are already-released tracks updated with new arrangements. Others are never-before-heard productions that include digitally modified voice work done by the album’s producer, Selena’s brother A.B. Quintanilla.
“What’s unique about it is that not only is the music completely new arrangements, but my son worked on Selena’s voice with the computers and if you listen to her, she sounds on this recording like she did right before she passed away,” Abraham said. Read more

According to Variety, Perry was defending the claim that the 2013 song “Dark Horse” infringed on the copyright of rapper Marcus Gray, also known by his stage name Flame.

Director Jane Campion has apologized to tennis legends Venus and Serena Williams for her “thoughtless” remarks about the pair during a Sunday evening acceptance speech at the Critics’ Choice Awards.
Campion, a white woman from New Zealand, was accepting the award for Best Director for her film “The Power of the Dog” when she made the comments.
In her speech, Campion — the only woman nominated in the category — praised the Williams sisters as “marvels” in their craft, but implied that the two Black women did not face the same battles in gender equality as women in film.

In front of a large hometown crowd, Medina was spectacular, as he dazzled fans with a dominating performance. In the early rounds, Medina set the pace by throwing hard punches from all angles. As the fight continued, Frausto was starting to break down from the punishment he was taking as Medina’s body attack was in full effect. Going into the final round, the bell rang, and the referee stopped the fight ten seconds later as he saw that Frausto could not continue.
“This is exactly how I wanted to start my year with a knockout against a well-regarded opponent, now I just have to continue from here,” said Medina. “Getting the stoppage in the final round was a big thing for me since it showed that I have a killer instinct and can carry my power throughout a fight. This year I am planning on taking the biggest fights of my career and emerging as one of the new faces of boxing, especially here in Texas.”

Seventh-seeded Andrey Rublev pushed his ATP winning streak to 10 matches on Sunday, shaking off a slow start to beat Dominik Koepfer 7-5, 6-4 in his second-round opener at the Indian Wells WTA and ATP Masters.
Rublev fell 4-2 down before breaking 51st-ranked Koepfer twice to pocket the first set.
He finished with 32 winners against the German and won 11 of 15 points at the net to put the match away.
