Businessman accuses police, land grabbers of destroying property (Punch)
A geoscientist, Taye Akewusola, has accused some operatives of the Nigeria Police Force of allegedly conniving with land grabbers to destroy a fence he built around his property.

A group, Advocates for Good Governance (AGG), yesterday, stormed the National Assembly in protest against perceived plans to elect leaders of the 9th Assembly via secret ballot.

Reps move to probe $27bn oil revenue loss to IOCs (Vanguard)
The House of Representatives on Wednesday resolved to probe the $27 billion oil revenue loss to international oil companies since 1999 till date.

The Senate, yesterday threw out a motion seeking to recognize Kogi State as oil-producing state. Senate According to the Senate, it lacked such constitutional powers to go into such a proposal. Ondo varsity shut over students’ rampage (Nation)
STUDENTS of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA) in Ondo State yesterday protested over what they described as “obnoxious” policy of the school management.
Sources hinted that the students were protesting the “No school fee, no test” order by the management.

How civil defence officer killed 8 children during Easter procession in Gombe (DailyTrust)
On Sunday, April 21, tragedy struck when a vehicle driven by an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, ASC Adamu Abubakar, rammed into a procession by the Boys’ Brigade celebrating Easter, killing eight children and injuring 35 others.
Abubakar and his civilian friend, Murtala Hassan, were also killed by a mob. This was said to have doused tension and prevented a possible inter-religious crisis in the state. Read more
