Lagos to enforce law on meat hygiene (Vanguard)

The Lagos State Government has directed the major food vendors, who sell meat in the state, to henceforth submit a ‘veterinary health certificate for the trade of meat’ to the inspecting veterinary personnel in the state Ministry of Agriculture. Prince Gbolahan Lawal, the state Commissioner for Agriculture, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, in Lagos. Gbolahan said that the state government would confirm the certificates to ascertain that the animal had been duly slaughtered under hygienic conditions. Read more

Two ‘ritualists’ arrested with human skull (NewTelegraph)

Police have arrested two men, Emmanuel Aro and Anu Olofinju, for allegedly stealing a human skull at a cemetery in Ogun State.

The suspects, both aged 25, were nabbed on Ijoun Road, Eggua in Yewa North Local Government Area.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident in a statement, disclosed that the skull was that of a woman. Read more

Seven Brits chucked off easyJet flight after punch-up forces emergency landing (Metro)

Seven British men were bundled off a easyJet flight by police after the captain was forced to make an emergency landing because they started punching each other. Witnesses say one man spat in a woman’s eye during the fight which involved two groups travelling from Manchester to Tenerife on Thursday. The incident is said to have started around two hours after the 5.35pm take-off, when a group of four ‘lads’ started punching each other before the plane was diverted to Faro, Portugal. Read more
