The Lagos State Police Command has been asked to show incontrovertible evidence of the death of an operative of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Inspector Olukunle Olonade, who allegedly killed an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Rotimi Adeyemo, on Wednesday.

Some LASTMA officers, who spoke to PUNCH Metro on Thursday, urged the police authorities to be sincere in their investigations, adding that only justice for the dead would put the matter to rest. Read more

A section of Ebenezer Akintunji Street, off Governor’s Road, Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), is usually flooded, even when the rains have stopped. Initially, residents thought the pool of dirty and foul-smelling water was from stagnant rainwater. But all doubts were erased with weeks of no downpour, yet the street remained flooded.

It was discovered that water oozes out from a particular section of the road every night. As a result, residents decided to investigate the source of the water, which was eventually traced to Moliki Street, an adjacent road to Ebenezer Akintunji Street. On a further probe, they realised a number of houses were involved but the chief culprit were residents of No. 9, Moliki Street. Read more

The comedian, who spoke with our correspondent on the sideline of a graduation ceremony held at Gazzelle Academy in Lagos, described skills acquisition as an important factor in the development of any country’s economy, which many Nigerian youths had, unfortunately, ignored.

Man hits landlord with chair while resolving conflict (Punch)

A fashion designer, Toheeb Razak, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly hitting his 64-year-old landlord, Theophilus Afolayan, with a plastic chair while resolving a conflict.

It was gathered that the wives of the two men were engaged in a fist fight.

Our correspondent learnt that while Afolayan tried to separate the women, the 27-year-old suspect hit him on the face with a plastic chair.

The prosecution alleged that the accused conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by hitting his landlord with a plastic chair following an argument. Read more

Anger as herdsmen graze on N3m maize farm in Oyo state (Vanguard)

It was a sad experience as a commercial farm owner at Akoya community in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State, Mr. Kayode Olaitan expressed his ordeal of cattle invasion that caused serious damage to his eight hectares maize farm, which he said, led to a loss of 40 tonnes of maize, among other costs amounting to N3 million.

Missing couple feared washed out to sea by waves as car found on beach (Mirror)

A huge search operation has been launched after a car belonging to an elderly couple was found washed up on a Scottish beach.

Rescuers are frantically trying to locate Jim and Susan Kenneavy, who are believed to be in their 70s.

They haven’t been seen since Wednesday and haven’t been in touch with family members.

Their grey Ford Kuga car was found near Drummore Village – 17 miles south of Stranraer – early on Thursday morning, the Daily Record reports.

Police fear their car may have been washed into the sea from the coastal road at Drummore which was closed several times on Wednesday and overnight because of the huge seas and waves which flooded the road. Read more
