LASU: Osinbajo delivers convocation lecture as 57 bag First Class (Sun)

Lagos State University (LASU) Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, yesterday disclosed that the institution will graduate 57 First Class students during the forthcoming convocation of the institution on Thursday, May 16.

Fagbohun, who told newsmen that the number is the highest in the history of the 36 years old institution, said last year, the university produced 26 First Class and less in 2017. Read more

Lagos hairdresser commits suicide over disagreements with boyfriend (Punch)

A resident of Fadausi Street, Ijeshatedo, Lagos State, Kenile Nwabuzor, has killed herself following protracted disagreements between her and her boyfriend identified as David.

City Round gathered that the duo had endured an unhealthy relationship since they met about two years ago. Our correspondent learnt that the matter came to a head on Thursday, April 11, 2019 when the 26-year-old hairdresser decided to commit suicide after David reportedly said he was no longer interested in the relationship. Outrage as teacher damages pupil’s eye with cane (Nation)

For Daniel Agboola, a Senior Secondary School Two pupil of Camp David Academy, Ogba, Lagos State, Friday, March 29 is a date etched in his memory for life. It was the day his teacher, Mr. Oludare Olaleye, damaged his right eye in the process of caning him.

The day had begun like any other as Daniel and his classmates prepared to sit an examination in the school’s hall. Olaleye, the supervisor for the exam, told the pupils to move out of the hall because the questions for the examination were not ready. Read more

They drove back home in their separate  cars, on April 1, 2019, from church, at  about 9pm,   with the woman ahead and her husband behind.

Little did they envisage that danger lurked ahead. The first move that signaled a nightmarish scenario occurred after a silver coloured Toyota Corrolla veered off its lane and drove behind the woman’s Toyota Sequoia. Then, all of a sudden, like a Hollywood   action movie, the car, intercepted the woman’s,   at Orchid road, by Abraham Adesanya, with two armed huge   men jumping out   of it. Alleged rape of Abuja sex workers Police raise team to probe men (Nation)

The FCT police Command said it had set up a team to probe allegations of rape against some of its personnel.

The alleged rape was said to have occurred on  April 27, 2019 when some suspected commercial sex workers were raided at Caramelo Night Club by the FCTA Joint Task Team.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) on Friday said it feared continued “intense transmission’’ of Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where deaths from a nine-month-old epidemic are 994 and expected to exceed 1,000 within hours.

A panel of legal experts affiliated with the United Nations has criticized the 50-week sentence a British judge imposed on WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange for jumping bail.
