LAUTECH: Lecturers to meet on Monday as warning strike ends (PremiumTimes)

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, will meet on Monday to decide on the next line of action as it ended the two weeks warning strike by its members. Southwest coordinator of the union, Ade Adejumo, disclosed this to PREMIUM TIMES in a telephone interview on Wednesday. The strike disrupted the 2017/18 second semester examination of the institution as the teachers continued to protest against non-payment of workers salaries and decayed infrastructure at the university co-owned by Oyo and Osun states. Govt Spent U.S.$202,000 Servicing External Debt for 2018 Q2 (DailyTrust)

The Debt Management Office (DMO) has disclosed that Nigeria spent a total of $202,253.15 to service its external debt stock for the second quarter of 2018. This was contained in a document on its website which detailed the multilateral, bilateral, commercial and Eurobond debts. The difference, when compared with the $225,253.15 FG used to service external debt in the first quarter, fell by $22,880. The document showed that the total amount used to service multilateral obligations was $51,115.06, while bilateral obligation gulped $16,023.94. Read more

The police in Akwa Ibom state said there was no attack on the country home of a senator, Godswill Akpabio, as claimed by the senator’s aide. Mr Akpabio’s media aide, Anietie Ekong, said earlier that some unknown gunmen stormed the senator’s home in Ukana Ikot Ntuen, Essien Udim, Akwa Ibom state, around 7.30 p.m on Tuesday, and were shooting sporadically in front of the gate before they were repelled by police officers and other security personnel attached to the senator. NBC condemns demolition of Fresh FM by Oyo government (Guardian)

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has condemned the demolition of the structure housing the Fresh FM in Ibadan by the Oyo State Government. The Director-General of NBC, Ishaq Modibbo-Kawu, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin, said the demolition was a worrisome development and did not speak well of the state government.
