For the 3rd time in less than seven months, Legends the Musical is scheduled to come alive on stage at the Agip Hall, MUSON Centre, Lagos, from today May 27, through to the 29th, 2019. The producers say it will be three days of exciting performances.
After the Lagos show, Legends will embark on a nationwide tour that would include taking Abuja by storm on June 9 & 10 at the Congress Hall, Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Maitama, Abuja.
Also on the card is Kaduna – the hometown of Queen Amina of Zaria (Uche Elumelu). Ms. Elumelu feels visiting major northern cities would be a huge opportunity to take the message to the ‘home fans’ whom she believes “would be fascinated to watch on stage one of their most celebrated female leaders in history”.
“Our people recognise their own” she said while fielding questions. “They want something that hits home. One thing that Legends thrives on is originality and you cannot beat originality. This is something fresh. Apart from the story of Amina that they are familiar with, I am sure they will be curious to look into the history of Sango, Nefertiti, Shaka and Yaa Asantewaa”.
Legends is about five African heroes who lived in different time and age— Sango (Segun Adefila), Nana Yaa Asantewaa (Mojisola Kadiri), Neferneferuaten Nefertiti (Edem Attai), Shaka Zulu (Kelvin Mary) and Queen Amina of Zazzau (Uche Elumelu), drawn from different African countries, are summoned from Kumbayah by the little priestess (Oluchi Odii) who lives in modern time, to come save Modaland from the destructive grip of The Shadow (Floyd Igbo). But alas, they realize that The Shadow is the greatest enemy of mankind that can only be destroyed by curbing the excesses of the man in the mirror.
For Eden Attai, whenever Legends: Kings and Kingdoms comes on stage, it is always a different ball game. “I expect Abuja to be a huge success” she said. “It is a different audience, different people but, as I have always said, the show is great and at every time we perform, there is always something new, the character is always evolving. We are taking it to Abuja and I only expect it to be fantastic!”
The cooperation among the five superhuman casts lends credence to the power of unity. The intermittent infusion of disarming musical rendition equally goes to emphasize the boundless power of music and the potency of youthful love.
Most importantly, Legends tells a unique story and brings to fore the unforgettable imprints of a-select African legends whose dispositions, cutting across generations, are worthy of emulation by those who seek to make meaningful progress in life.
