Liverpool chief takes subtle dig at Philippe Coutinho amid Chelsea and Man Utd transfer speculation (Metro)

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner claims Philippe Coutinho ‘probably regrets’ his decision to join Barcelona amid speculation he has already been deemed surplus to requirements at Camp Nou.

Jurgen Klopp desperately attempted to keep the Brazil international at Anfield but eventually succumbed last January when Barcelona offered an eye-watering £146million for his services.

The 26-year-old has been a major disappointment, however, since his club-record move and was virtually anonymous during the two legs of the recent Champions League semi final when Liverpool overturned a 3-0 first leg deficit.

Klopp’s side are currently preparing for their second consecutive major European final, while Barcelona are reportedly ready to make Coutinho a makeweight in a potential deal that could see Neymar return to Catalonia, while Manchester United and Chelsea are also said to have registered and interest in the diminutive playmaker.
