Traders and workers of all kinds stayed indoors in Aba, monitoring situations in the streets and also in Abuja where Kanu appeared before an Appeal Court Judge to demand his release.
Kanu’s home town Afaraukwu, Ibeku was also calm in the afternoon on Tuesday as indigenes were disappointed that their son, who was picked up in Kenya in May 2021 by the DSS and bundled to Nigeria, a manner described by the United Nations as a gross violation of international laws, was not released. Man City face another fixture postponement with Arsenal decision looming (MEN)
Manchester City could see their Premier League game with Arsenal next month called off as the Gunners try to fulfil their Europa League fixtures.
Arsenal’s match at home to PSV on Thursday has been called off as a consequence of the Queen’s death, with police limitations during the national period of mourning. They need to find another midweek to play that fixture before the end of the group stage or risk forfeiting the game.
With the calendar already squeezed because of the World Cup, there are no apparent days for Arsenal to play the game unless they move a Premier League match — and the home match with City on October 19 looks like one of the only opportunities. For the Blues, the game comes between an away game at Liverpool and a home fixture with Brighton.
City have already seen their home game with Tottenham postponed last weekend after the Premier League cancelled all fixtures following the Queen’s death. That match does not look likely to be played until February at the earliest, and the Arsenal game would be a similar scenario. Read more

Amir Khan admits regret after accusing Anthony Joshua of sleeping with his wife (Mirror)
Amir Khan admits he lost a friend in Anthony Joshua after accusing him of sleeping with his wife Faryal Makhdoom.
The boxing legend went on a bizarre Twitter outburst in 2017 in which he labelled his wife as a “golddigger” and accused Joshua of sleeping with her. Kahn claimed he would divorce Makhdoom, writing: “Left my family and friends for this Faryal. I’m not hurt but another fighter. I’m making it public. You’re getting a divorce.” Khan didn’t stop there as he welcomed Joshua to have his “leftovers” before later deleting the tweets.
Five years on from the incident and Khan, who retired from boxing after his loss to Kell Brook in February, told The Overlap that he hasn’t spoken with Joshua since. “I was going through a bit of a mad time myself,” he said. “I wanted to leave my wife. I had the problem with Anthony Joshua which I felt really bad for because at the end of the day I put him in the firing line for no reason. He was a friend of mine and since then we’ve never spoken, so I lost a good friend through that. The guy did nothing wrong and I kind of stuck it on him.” Read more
Queen was ‘wonderful driver’ who wouldn’t let F1 champion Jackie Stewart behind the wheel (DailyStar)
The chance to be driven by a current Formula 1 world champion would be snapped up immediately by most people, but not Queen Elizabeth II.
The late monarch, who passed away last week at the age of 96, was an excellent driver and served in the military as a mechanic during World War II. Therefore, when her friend, F1 legend Sir Jackie Stewart, offered to drive her to a barbeque at Sandringham in the 1970s, shortly after he had become world champion for the third time, she bluntly refused.
Stewart, who was Knighted by the Queen in 2001, having received an OBE in 1972, recalled the amusing tale in an interview with Sky Sports F1 ahead of Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix, where a minute’s silence was held in memory of Her Majesty.
“At Sandringham, we were up shooting and sometimes we would go there for a barbeque,” explained Stewart. “The Queen loved barbeques. We used to wait for Her Majesty to arrive and go out in Range Rovers to the barbeque. Read more
