Lucas Torreira has lavished praise on his Arsenal midfield partner Granit Xhaka, hailing him as one of the most influential players in Unai Emery’s side.
The Switzerland international has represented a divisive figure since his £35million move from Borussia Monchengladbach two years ago, with his incisive passing often undermined by a lack of discipline and defensive nous.
Partnered with the combative summer signing from Sampdoria, however, Xhaka has emerged as one of the key players in a 12-game unbeaten run masterminded by Arsene Wenger’s successor and Torreira believes the 26-year-old is the player who really makes Arsenal tick.
Crystal Palace ‘I am going to get to grips better with all the tactical aspects of how Arsenal play,’ Torreira told the Evening Standard.
‘Last year, I got used to Sampdoria’s style of play, where we had three players across the midfield, and I’m now adapting to Arsenal’s and there just being two of us, playing alongside Granit Xhaka.
