There was pandemonium yesterday at Saint John’s Anglican Primary School, Agodo in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State, when a suspected mentally deranged man invaded the school and hacked two pupils to death.
The suspect, Lekan Adebisi, was said to have entered the school about 11:15a.m. during lunch break and killed the pupils. It was learnt that Adebisi emerged from a nearby bush and attacked pupils, who were playing on the school field.
In the ensuing melee, two male pupils, who were reportedly in kindergarten class – Mubarak Kalesowo and Sunday Obituyi (both four years) – were killed. The deep machete cuts inflicted on the victims left them in a pool of blood.
According to witnesses, immediately the supposed madman committed the act, he fled the scene. Sources said that the school had perimeter fence but lacked gates. Following the sad incident, parents and guardians stormed the school and started withdrawing their wards, while security agents battled to unravel the mystery behind the killings.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with our correspondent. Oyeyemi, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, however, said the police were on the trail of the suspect and would get him arrested as soon as possible. Read more
