Major injuries as train and lorry crash in Japan (Metro)

One person was critically injured and more than 30 others wounded when an express train collided with a lorry in Japan’s second-largest city of Yokohama.

The truck – that was loaded with boxes of citrus fruit – burst into flames and derailed nearly half the train in the major collision on Thursday morning.

It apparently hit the train as it entered a crossing in the port city as the train was heading towards the capital, Tokyo.

Glass in the driver’s compartment shattered and at least the first three carriages of the eight-carriage train were pulled off the tracks, pictures show. Read more
