A 35-year-old man, Moses Ojo, on Monday appeared before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, for allegedly obtaining N250,000 under false pretences.
Ojo, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of obtaining by false pretences and stealing.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp Adegeshin Famuyiwa, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in February at Ogolonto area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Famuyiwa alleged that the defendant obtained the N250,000 on the pretext of putting Plaster of Paris in a two-bedroom apartment belonging to the complainant, Mr Shola Quadri.
The prosecutor said that the defendant did not do the job but converted the money to his personal use.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 314 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mr A. O. Ogbe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of one million Naira with two sureties in like sum.
Ogbe adjourned the case until Aug. 31 for mention. (NAN)
