Man 44, docked for alleged misconduct

A 44-year-old man, Segun Isiaka, was on Wednesday docked in an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, for allegedly conducting himself in a manner likely to breach public peace.

Isiaka is facing a two-count charge of causing a breach of peace and threatening arson.He , however pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Dr Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb. 17, at the Iyana-school area of Iba in Ojo.

Uche said that the defendant unlawfully entered into the shop of one Mohammed Usman, to whom he had allegedly lent some money, and began to remove property from the shop.

The prosecutor told the court that the defendant also threatened to burn down the shop of the complainant, if he failed to pay back his money.

He said the defendant thereby conducted himself in a manner likely to breach the peace of the public.

The offences, he said, contravene the provisions of sections 56(1) and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mr L.K.J Layeni, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.He adjourned the case until May 19, for trial. (NAN)
