SZA set the record straight about her & Taylor Swift’s supposed beef (Bustle)

A battle in music sales spilled over onto Twitter and became a heated fan war this week. It all centered on SZA (real name: Solána Imani Rowe) and Taylor Swift’s individual efforts to top the Billboard 200 chart for the week-long period ending on January 6. As the two artistes promoted their most recent albums — SOS and Midnights, respectively — some members of their fan bases publicly speculated about there being bad blood between them. However, SZA made sure to shut down rumors of beef quickly, including by sending “LOVE TO EVERYONE,” in a January 5 tweet.

Before SZA’s tweet, she was leading Swift in the final push to midnight, poised to take the top spot for the fourth week in a row, but the “Anti-Hero” singer didn’t seem ready to concede. Swift shared an Instagram story as she was “taking a break from tour rehearsal” to promote her four new Midnights digital albums with behind-the-song bonus material. One Twitter user showed a screenshot of the digital albums selling for $4.99 and suggested it was part of an effort to stop SOS from reaching No. 1 again. “Desperate isn’t even the word anymore,” they added.

Meanwhile, SZA had something up her sleeve, too: a new digital version of SOS with a solo version of “Open Arms,” plus the new track “PSA.” A fan shared the update on Twitter, writing, “Sza said you wanna be funny Taylor ? I can be HILARIOUS.” Another wrote, “taylor vs sza on my tl. sister against sister, mother against mother.” Read more

Nicolas Cage isn’t returning as Spider-Man Noir in Across the Spider-Verse (FlickeringMyth)

While Sony Pictures’ upcoming Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set to include an entire – well, Spider-Verse – of Spider-Men characters, it seems that one incarnation of web-slinger from the Oscar-winning original could be sitting out the sequel.

Speaking to Screen Rant to promote his new film, the Western thriller The Old Way, Nicolas Cage has revealed that he’s not had any contact with regards to him reprising his Spider-Man Noir role from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

“You’d have to ask Sony,” said Cage when asked about the character’s potential future. “I don’t know what’s going on with that. No one’s spoken to me about that. Ask them. I don’t know. I really don’t. I wish they would. I love Spider-Man Noir, too. I think that’s a great character. Spider-Man’s the coolest superhero. And then you combine that with Cagney and Bogart and Edward G. Robinson, come on, it’s a great character.”

Although he seems to be sitting out Across the Spider-Verse, there’s always a chance that Cage’s Spider-Man Noir could be back for 2024’s Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, or one of the numerous Spider-Verse spinoffs that Sony is eyeing beyond that. Read more

Manchester United shirt numbers available for Wout Weghorst as No.7 ”promised to another target” (MEN)

Manchester United are looking to sign a new striker in the January transfer window, with Erik ten Hag keen to add attacking reinforcements to his squad.

With Cristiano Ronaldo having left the club by mutual consent in November, the Reds only have one recognised striker in Anthony Martial. The Frenchman has been impressive for United this term – registering five goals in 12 matches – but he has already missed 15 matches through injury this season.

The Reds have performed well in recent months and currently sit fourth in the Premier League table – with a game in hand over third-placed Newcastle United. Ten Hag’s men are also still in Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Europa League action, albeit with a play-off tie against the Catalan giants to come in February.

Marcus Rashford is enjoying a spectacular individual campaign, but he is operating from the left-wing and the club still believe that they need to recruit a striker in this month’s transfer window in order to provide attacking support. The Reds are looking at the loan market if they are to sign a frontman with Wout Weghorst joining until the end of the season from Burnley, one option being looked at. Read more
