36-year-old man arraigned for alleged child abduction in Lagos (Punch)

A 36-year-old man, Aminu Shanaki, was on Tuesday arraigned by the police before an Ogba Magistrate Court in Ikeja, for allegedly abducting a child.

The defendant is facing two counts bordering on conspiracy and stealing preferred against him by the police.

Police prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on September 7, 2024, at Kola Bus Stop in the Alagbado area of Lagos State. Read more 

Police arrest Third Mainland Bridge vandal, hunt for others (Punch)

Operatives of the Onikan Division of Lagos Police Command have arrested one Suspect, Yakubu Yusuf, for vandalising a segment of the Third Mainland Bridge railings.

This was disclosed in a statement on X.com by the Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday.

According to the statement, Yusuf was arrested following information received by the division on the activities of some vandals operating along the Old School of Nursing area of the Third Mainland Bridge. Read more

NAFDAC seals counterfeit cosmetics factory in Lagos (Punch)

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has raided and sealed a factory allegedly producing counterfeit cosmetic products in Lagos.

According to a statement on X.com on Tuesday, NAFDAC officers stormed the illegal factory at Benue Plaza, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos State.

During the raid, officers discovered a stash of unregistered chemicals, packaging materials, and expired products being repackaged for sale. Read more

Teenager nabbed for using nude photos to blackmail female friend (Punch)

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 18-year-old Michael Ogbugu for blackmailing and extorting a former secondary school classmate at the Orchid Estate in the Lekki area of Lagos State.

The victim, whose name has been withheld, was said to be having a video conversation with Michael when he took a screenshot of her nude picture.

Ogbugu then used the image to threaten and coerce her into sending more explicit photos and videos. 

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent in a statement on Thursday said the suspect also demanded sex and money from her parents. Read more 

17-year-old boy found dead, buried in shallow grave in Lagos apartment (Punch)

A 17-year-old boy, Adeolu Olubade, was found dead and buried in a shallow grave inside an apartment on Jesus Assembly Omoguwa Street in the Ejigbo area of Lagos State.

PUNCH Online learnt that an unnamed 30-year-old suspect had been arrested in connection with the crime.

Mohbad: Naira Marley, Sam Larry risk subpoena for shunning invitation (Punch)

A Coroner’s Court sitting in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State has threatened to subpoena key witnesses for failing to appear at the ongoing inquest into the death of singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad.

Magistrate T. A. Sotobi had ordered substituted services for the witnesses after granting an application by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, to serve a witness summons on additional witnesses through a reputable national newspaper and social media.

These include Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley; Samson Eletu aka Sam Larry; Mohbad’s sister-in-law, Karimot Ogunbayo; Mohbad’s lawyer, Oluwasanmi Falade, the nurse who was said to have treated the deceased singer during the period, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, and the driver who drove him to the hospital, Fidelis Esanbor. Man remanded for alleged minor defilement (Punch)

A Lagos State Magistrate Court sitting in Badagry on Wednesday ordered the remand of a 44-year-old man, Sunday Lukas, in the correctional centre for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old girl.

Chief Magistrate Patrick Adekomaiya directed that Lukas be held at the Awarjigoh Correctional Centre in Badagry after the defendant pleaded not guilty to defilement.

In addition, Adekomaiya ordered that the case file be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice. Read more 

Man kills neighbour, son over environmental sanitation in Lagos (Vanguard)

The Police Command in Lagos State says it has detained a man (names withheld), for allegedly killing his neighbour and her son over an environmental sanitation dispute in the Lekki area of the state.

The command Spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on. Monday in Lagos.

He said that the incident happened on Saturday about 10:50 p.m. and investigation was ongoing to ascertain what the suspect  used to perpetrate the crime. Read more
