Man arraigned for alleged N20m fraud in Lagos (Punch)

A 47-year-old man, Erivona Yoma, was arraigned before the Magistrate Court sitting in the Yaba area of Lagos State for allegedly defrauding an agricultural company, Pally Agro Nigeria Limited, of N20 million.

Yoma allegedly defrauded Pally Agro under the pretence of purchasing and supplying them with planting materials and soya beans but converted the money for his use.

Yoma was brought before Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun on Friday on three count charges bordering on felony to wit, obtaining money by false pretence and stealing preferred against him by the police. Read more 

Police probing suspected Lagos kidnap incident –PPRO (Punch)

The Lagos State Police Command has said it is looking into the case of a suspected kidnap of a yet-to-be-identified female adult on Monday, January 1, on the Victoria Island area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known while speaking to PUNCH Metro on Tuesday.

Blind mother seeks Lagos CP’s help over missing child (Punch)

A visually impaired mother, Agnes Forte, has appealed to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fayoade Adegoke, to intervene in the search for her missing one-year-old baby, Excel.

Agnes had raised the alarm over the disappearance of Excel on Tuesday, November 28, in the Akowonjo area of Lagos State.

Okada ban: Siblings accuse Lagos police of extortion, DPO intervenes (Punch)

Three brothers, Kamal Iyanda, Waheed Iyanda, and Omololu Iyanda, have accused officers of the Lagos State Police Command of extorting N63,000 from them.

One of the brothers, Kamal, told PUNCH Metro on Friday that the police officers enforcing Okada ban in the Aguda area of Surulere allegedly made them pay the amount after they were detained for hours in the cell at Soloki Station in Aguda where they were taken to.

Kamal said the incident happened last Wednesday while their car broke down and they needed to board the bike. Read more

2 Lagos drivers knock down policemen, attempt to snatch rifle (Punch)

Two yet-to-be identified car drivers have reportedly knocked down two policemen on stop-and-search duties around Oshodi, Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the incident happened at about 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the officers were on patrol at 7/8 Bus Stop, Oshodi, Lagos.

A source disclosed that the attack on the police officers was carried out by the drivers of a Toyota Camry and a Lexus 350 cars, whose number plates were yet unknown. Read more

Lagos police arrest 3 for threat to life (Punch)

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two females identified as Dorcas Adeyinka and Folake Adekoya, and a male, Sikiru Ayinde, over offences bordering on cyberstalking and threat to life.

This was disclosed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement posted via his X handle, on Saturday.

The state PPRO noted that having conducted preliminary investigations, adding that a court remand order has been obtained for the suspects till January 10, 2024.

Police arrest 3 robbery suspects in Lagos (Punch)

The Lagos State Police Command said it has arrested three armed robbery suspects for allegedly robbing a woman of N3.2 million and a vehicle.

The spokesperson for the Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest to the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday.

Navy arrests 3 stowaways in Lagos (Punch)

The Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft, has on Wednesday, arrested three stowaways onboard a tanker vessel Front Altiers bound for Europe at Lagos roadstead.

The Commander, NNS Beecroft and Maritime Component Commander of Operation Awatse, Commodore Kolawole Oguntuga, disclosed this in a statement signed by the NNS Beecroft base Information Officer, Sub-Lieutenant H. A. Collins, on Friday.

The suspects include Ebuka Daniel, 29 years old, from Enugu State; Samuel Abraham, 32 years old, from Edo State, and Christian Happy, 32 years old, from Delta State. Read more

Lagos police arrest 4 suspected traffic robbers (Punch)

Police operatives in Lagos State have arrested four persons for allegedly robbing road users in traffic along the Ojota area of the state.

The Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

According to Hundeyin, the suspects were arrested following a tip-off received from one of the victims who alerted men of the Rapid Response Squad who immediately swung into action, trailed the suspects and arrested three on Sunday while the fourth suspect was arrested on Monday. Read more

Technician nabbed for stealing 4 solar panels in Lagos (Punch)

A 30-year-old technician, Emmanuel Achogwu, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly stealing four solar panels in the Ikosi area of the state on Monday.

The state police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, who made the news of the arrest known on his verified X handle on Monday, said the stolen four panels were meant to power streetlights in the area.

Hundeyin added that the suspect was one of the technicians contracted to install the panels in the area before he returned to vandalise them. Read more

Sanwo-Olu orders arrest of soldier, Okada rider for driving against traffic (Nation)

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday ordered the arrest of a soldier and some commercial motorcyclists (Okada riders) for driving against the traffic on the Lagos-Badagry expressway.

The governor gave the order while returning from the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo where he had gone to inaugurate a project sponsored by the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila.

Sanwo-Olu, on sighting the traffic offenders, stopped his convoy and went after the riders. While some of the riders ran and left their motorcycles and passengers, some were apprehended by the governor’s team. Read more

Command arrests man for allegedly printing, distributing fake Police ID Cards (Nation)

The police in Lagos State have arrested a man, who allegedly paraded himself as a police officer before commercial motorcyclists, whom he allegedly defrauded N670,000.

The command’s spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday.

He said the suspect was arrested after information about his activities was received for allegedly printing fake Police ID Cards and issuing the same to some motorcyclists, who paid him between N50,000 and N70,000. Read more
