Man docked for alleged N13m fraud

A 49-year old man, Timothy Alonge, was on Friday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court over alleged stealing and obtaining N13 million by false pretense.

The defendant, an estate agent, residing at 4, Laggai Estate, Redemption Camp, Ogun, is being charged with stealing and obtaining by false pretense.

The Prosecutor, Insp Innocent Odugbo told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 8 at Ikeja.

Odugbo said that Alonge approached the complainant, Mr Olufemi Aboderin, concerning the sale of a 3-bedroom bungalow in Ogun.

Odugbo said that the complainant paid the sum of N13 million for the purchase of the property through the defendant’s bank account.”

The defendant refused to show the complainant the building, all efforts to get the money back from him have not yielded result,” he said.

He said that the offence contravened Sections 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs M.F Onamusi granted the defendant to bail in the sum of N600,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Onamusi adjourned the case until Nov. 8 for mention.(NAN)
