Man finds $1.75-million lottery ticket while house cleaning (MGazette)

A Montreal man has just carried out one of the most profitable house cleanups of all time. Gregorio De Santis recently found a Lotto 6/49 ticket dating from last December 6, while going through some old clothes.

When he went to validate his ticket, De Santis thought he had won $1,750. When he realised his win was 1,000 times greater than that, he said his heart almost stopped.

The December 6 jackpot was in fact $7 million, but it was divided among four winners. De Santis picked up his cheque at the headquarters of Loto-Québec Friday, 10 months after the drawing. The Sherbrooke St. W. dépanneur owner who sold him the ticket will get $17,500, equivalent to one per cent of the winnings. Read more
