Operatives of the Ogun State-owned security outfit, So-Safe Corps, have arrested one Omotayo Oni for allegedly stealing cables inside the state headquarters of Deeper Life Bible Church.
Oni was arrested on Wednesday in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state.
The So-Safe Corps spokesperson, Moruf Yusuf, in a statement on Friday, said the operatives arrested Oni during a routine patrol in the axis.
He said Oni attempted to run away when the security officers wanted to find out the source of the cables in his possession.
According to him, the suspect was chased and arrested.
Yusuf said the suspect during the interrogation “confessed to have stolen the cables around the spot he was nabbed.”
He said, “It took the team hours to get to the actual place where the cables were stolen as he (the suspect) took them to so many wrong locations before he opened up and mentioned that the crime was perpetrated in Deeper Life Church, state headquarters.”
The spokesman explained further that as part of efforts to authenticate where the cables were stolen from, the Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, instructed the team to visit the church.
“At the church, the Chief Security Officer and others were surprised and asked him how he managed to escape being caught despite the formidable security network of the church,” he said.
He added that the suspect and the exhibit had been transferred to the police at the Redeemed divisional headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution. (DailyTrust)
