The Magen David Adom (MDA) rescue service in Israel said two people were killed and four others seriously injured in a knife attack in Ariel in Israel West Bank.

The Israeli military said the suspected Palestinian attacker initially fled, but was later arrested, on saying the attacks occurred at two different locations near an industrial estate.

According to the MDA, the dead are a 35-year-old man who succumbed to his injuries after the knife attack in Ariel. And a 50-year-old man who died on the highway.

The acting Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid while offering condolences to the families of the dead said “the citizens of Israel awakened today to a difficult and painful morning.

A despicable terrorist has carried out a heinous terrorist attack in Ariel.’’

Tensions in the occupied West Bank have increased in recent months, with repeated attacks and clashes between the Israeli military and Palestinians. (dpa/NAN)
