Man suffers severe burns after attempt to vandalise transformer cables in Niger

A 22-year-old man, Tasiu Danlami, sustained a severe burn injury while attempting to vandalise Abuja Electricity Distribution Company’s (AEDC)  transformer cables in Tafa Local Government Area of Niger.

The Police Public Relations Officer FPRO, Niger State Police Command SP Wasiu Abiodun disclosed this in a Pres statement on Monday, October 14, 2024, in Minna, adding that the suspected criminals, identified as Tasiu Danlami and his partner in Crime, Abba Salisu, had attempted to vandalise cables in the community, leading to the first suspect’s injury.

“On 10/10/2024 at about 0545hrs, Police operatives of Tafa Division, in conjunction with vigilante members, while on routine patrol within Hayin-Nasarawa area along Abuja-Kaduna Expressway via Tafa, arrested two suspects identified as: Tasiu Danlami 22yrs and Abba Salisu 18yrs of the same area,” the statement read.

It added; “The two suspects attempted to vandalize AEDC transformer cables within the community, which led to severe burn injury of Tasiu.

“He was taken to Musa Yar’Adua General  Hospital Sabon-Wuse, in Tafa LGA of the State for treatment, while Abba was taken into custody with an industrial cutting plier.
“Suspects are under further investigation in Tafa Division,” the statement added. (Tribune)
