Man,36, docked for allegedly stealing pair of shoe, rechargeable light

An unemployed man, Seun Odupitan, was on Monday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a pair of shoes and a rechargeable light worth N33,000.

Odupitan, 36, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and illegal possession of a pair of police camouflage uniform.

He pleaded guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp Ajayi Emmanuel, told the court that the defendant committed the offences at 1.00 a.m. on Oct. 31 in the Ikorodu area of the state.

Emmanuel said that Odupitan stole a pair of shoes worth N18,000 and a rechargeable light worth N15,000, making a total of N33,000, belonging to one James Oluwadamilare.

He said that the offences contravened Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The prosecutor also told the court that the defendant was caught in possession of a pair of police camouflage uniform and could not give a satisfactory account of how he came about it.

Emmanuel said that the offence is punishable under Section 330(d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs O. I. Raji adjourned the case until Nov. 18 for a review of the facts and sentence. (NAN)
