Manchester United facing injury crisis ahead of Arsenal clash (Metro)

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho could be without eight defenders for Wednesday’s clash against Arsenal at Old Trafford.

Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic were deployed in unfamiliar centre-back roles against Southampton on Saturday due to injuries to Chris Smalling, Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof.

Phil Jones played in the middle of the pair on the south coast but is now struggling with an unspecified injury according to the Telegraph, while Luke Shaw – who played at left-wing back – had to come off against his former club.

The pair are struggling to be fit, while Ashley Young is suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against the Saints.

Mourinho faces the media today and United fans will be hoping one of Smalling or Bailly will be fit again to play against the Gunners. Read more
