The body of a man has been found on the beach near Hove’s secluded ‘Millionaire’s Row’.

His remains were found by a passerby off the shore of Western Esplanade, a private cul-de-sac that backs onto Shoreham Harbour, just before 4pm.

Officers have been turning people away from the beach, with dozens of police, coastguard crews and paramedics at the scene.

A bystander told The Argus: ‘It was just unbelievable to hear that a body washed up.

‘I heard about it before going into the gym. It’s really sad.’

The police said: ‘Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and establish the full circumstances of the incident.’

The stretch of homes at the end of the Western Lawns is home to celebrities such DJ Fatboy Slim, who owns two multi-million-pound homes.

Paul McCartney, Adele and David Walliams have also called the street home, according to the historical blog Hove in the Past.

The average price for a property on this road is just under £2,500,000, with some easily a million more than that.

This makes it one of the most expensive streets to live on in Brighton and Hove. (Metro)
