Several people were trapped in multiple tanker accidents in Lagos on Thursday night.

Upon arrival at the incident scene at SIFAX inward Costain, a pile up of vehicles including two petrol tankers was found to be ablaze, according to emergency authorities.

Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, said, “Further investigations revealed that one of the tankers was ascending the bridge when it rolled back onto the other tanker and other vehicles. The collision impact resulted in the fire.” Read more

Three passengers were rescued in Lagos from the scene of a falling tanker on Otedola Bridge, Berger area of the state on Thursday.

The fuel-laden tanker overturned and trapped a 14-seater bus belonging to a company that conveyed the passengers.

The situation forced residents of the area to scoop fuel, notwithstanding the huge risk associated with the act. Read more

The military high command has identified where violent extremists take shelter, as troops on the frontline decimated 50 terrorists and rescued 49 hostages within one week.

Director of Defence Media Operations (DMO), Maj-Gen. Edward Buba, who made the disclosure, yesterday, noted that the safe havens provided a support base for insurgent activities.

Petrol tanker loses control, traps bus in Lagos (Vanguard)

A tanker, loaded with 33,000 litres of Diesel fuel, lost control yesterday, at Berger, on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, trapping a 14-seater commercial bus.

However, the three occupants of the bus reportedly managed to escape unhurt.

This is coming barely 48 hours after a similar incident occurred in the Surulere area of Lagos, in which a pregnant woman and a motorcyclist were injured. Read more

Stay off rail tracks, LASG urges residents (Punch)

As the Lagos Blue Line rail prepares to begin operations on fully electric-powered tracks on Monday, the Lagos State Government has warned residents to steer clear of the tracks as the consequences could be fatal.

The Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Jubril Gawat, gave the warning in a post via his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday.

“Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority continues the testing and simulation of the fully electric tracks this afternoon for the #BlueLineRail. Once again, tell your friends to tell your friends that they should not even think about getting near the tracks or try to vandalise or steal the tracks, the result will be fatal,” Gawat wrote. The Eagles have added a third Los Angeles-area date at the Kia Forum to their Long Goodbye Tour, which the band recently extended into 2024.

Rudolph Isley of The Isley Brothers has died at the age of 84, Fox News Digital can confirm.

“There are no words to express my feelings and the love I have for my brother,” Rudolph’s brother Ronald told Fox News Digital in a statement. “Our family will miss him. But I know he’s in a better place.”

The musician’s cause of death was not disclosed.

Rudolph was a founding member of the R&B band in the 1950s alongside his brothers Ronald, Vernon and O’Kelly Isley. However, Vernon died at the age of 13 after being hit by a car while riding his bike, the band’s website reported. Read more

A New York man killed after police said he came at them with swords in his hands was a former elite fencer who won a medal for the United States at the Pan American Games in 1995.

The state attorney general’s office said Thursday that it had opened a probe into the killing of Alan Weber, 54, who died Tuesday night after being shot at his home on Long Island by a Suffolk County police officer.

Suffolk County police said officers had gone to the home in response to a 911 call about a man acting violently inside, and heard Weber screaming and breaking things. Authorities said he refused to come outside. Read more
