Marcus Rashford given permission to join up with England squad despite foot injury

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Marcus Rashford will be released for England duty this week, despite carrying a foot injury.

The winger was not named in United’s squad for Sunday’s FA Cup clash against Leicester City.

Rashford was substituted at half-time in Thursday’s Europa League win against AC Milan and subsequent scans have shown the 23-year-old has sustained a foot injury.

Gareth Southgate named Rashford in England’s squad for upcoming matches against Albania, Poland and San Marino, despite the fact that United are keen for the forward to get a prolonged rest.

However, in a somewhat surprising admission, Solskjaer confirmed today that Rashford will be given permission to join up with the Three Lions. (Metro)
