Meghan Markle believes she was ‘destined’ to leave UK to fight racism in US

Meghan Markle reportedly believes her instinct to leave the UK makes sense now as she was ‘destined’ to help fight systemic racism in the US.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back as senior members of the Royal Family at the end of March, spending time in Canada before settling in California amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The former actress has allegedly told friends her ‘gnawing urgency to uproot from England’ was fate so she could be at the ‘forefront’ of the anti-racism movement in America.

A close friend is said to have told DailyMail.com that the activist has been conversing with Oprah about how she ‘can be part of the solution’.

They said: ‘Meghan feels like her mission goes far beyond acting. She said she wants to use her voice for change and hasn’t ruled out a career in politics.’

The royal recently made a heartfelt speech to students at her old school about the death of George Floyd, an unarmed father who was filmed lying face-down on the road, begging for air with a white officer’s knee on his neck.

She said Mr Floyd’s death had been ‘absolutely’ devastating’ and his life ‘mattered’, as she delivered a video address to the Immaculate Heart High School in Los Angeles in early June. (Metro)
