A few things are better than a free negative Covid-19 test and winning a million naira. Five winners who emerged in the Stanbic IBTC Reward for Saving promo experienced what that is like in one day at the finale event, which took place in Lagos on Friday, December 17.
As par the guidelines on Covid-19 in Lagos State, everyone was required to test negative before entering the event venue which had most of the winners and members of staff of the bank present.
Apart from the five millionaires, there were seven others who won N100,000 each, all of them customers of the bank who had participated in the promotion that has for the last three months rewarded 120 people with different amounts amounting to N12 million.
Top managers of Stanbic IBTC Holdings PLC, a member of Standard Bank Group, said the promotion was to help entrench a saving culture among Nigerians.
The Chief Executive, Stanbic IBTC Holdings PLC, Dr Demola Sogunle, encouraged everyone present never to give up on set goals and objectives.
“Most importantly, never give up on your financial goals. As a customer-friendly bank, we understand how tough saving can be especially in an economy as volatile as ours,” he said.
According to Abisola Ogunmoyero, who is head, Retail Sales of the bank, customers and the general public can take advantage of the financial institution’s products like mutual funds.
“In Stanbic IBTC Asset Management, we have various products but what I want to present to you today is mutual funds. Mutual funds is basically an investment basket where we pool funds from different investors and buy asset instruments on their behalf like bonds, stocks, fixed income instruments and commercial papers,”she said.
Many of the 12 winners presented their cheques at the event saved a minimum of N5,000 in their accounts to qualify for the promotion.
A visibly ecstatic Pascal Ejiofor, Bolaji Dorcas Plusi and Ernest Chibuike, were among the millionaire winners at the event.
Wave making musician, Ladipo Eso, popularly known as Ladipoe was on hand to perform songs that got most of the people present dancing and singing along. He saved his mega hit “Feeling” for last.
It was a place to be for a Friday afternoon what with the joy that was enough to go round at this time of good cheer and giving.
