A 19-year-old girl has revealed how her father had allegedly been having carnal knowledge of her since she was 11, at their apartment in Ikotun area of Lagos.
Consequently, her 50-year-old father, Ede Tyndale, has been arrested by detectives from the Family Support Unit of the Lagos State Police Command.
Vanguard learned that the victim’s mother became curious when she noticed her daughter’s disrespect for her father.

LASG gives conditions to reopen churches, mosques, others (Punch)
The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said government officials will be visiting churches, mosques, companies to evaluate their preparedness to fully reopen.
According to him, social distancing and hygiene will be prerequisites to reopening religious places of worship in the state.
Sanwo-Olu stated these at a briefing on Sunday after the State Security Council meeting at the Lagos House, Marina.
He noted that with the size of the state’s economy and numbers of businesses operating in its domain, the government could not afford to keep people and businesses on lockdown permanently. Read more
Businesses lose N2.7 billion to Lagos lockdown in five weeks (Guardian)
With the government considering another lockdown to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus, members of the organised private sector (OPS) have urged caution in the implementation of another exercise, noting that a significant proportion of small businesses in the formal sector lost over N2.7 billion in revenue.
While cost-cutting strategies, particularly downsizing, had “implications for the economy from unemployment and productivity perspectives”, the private sector operators asked for stimulus to address known concerns.
According to the latest data compiled by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), 81 per cent of sampled businesses were ‘severely’ affected by the shutdown with 17 per cent indicating moderate impact on their enterprises. Read more
Family accuses DPO of shooting policeman dead (Punch)
The family of Sergeant Onajide Onalaja has accused the Divisional Police Officer of the Ilemba Hausa Division, Yahaya Adesina, of shooting him dead in the Ilemba Hausa area of Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro gathered that after Onalaja was killed, the Divisional Traffic Officer of the station, Adekunle Ogundiji, reportedly contacted the victim’s wife, Folasade, and told her that her husband was shot dead by armed robbers when a team of policemen was monitoring compliance with the lockdown at a checkpoint in the area. Two fake soldiers nabbed for allegedly killing police sergeant in Lagos (Guardian)
Police operatives in Lagos State have arrested two fake soldiers, Kehinde Elijah, 45, and Eze Joseph, in connection with the killing of a police sergeant, Onalaja Onajide. Onajide, who was attached to Ilemba Hausa Division, Ajangbadi, was gunned down at about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, in front of the division by bullets said to be from an unknown source.
It was gathered that the suspects were apprehended on Saturday evening and yesterday morning by a team led by Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Yahaya Adesina, a Chief Superintendent (CSP), who witnessed the incident alongside another cop that night.
It was gathered that Elijah, a dismissed soldier sacked for allegedly deserting the battle against insurgents in the northeast, paid frequent visits to the police station pretending to be a serving soldier. Read more

Rivers State Government has announced the death of the Special Assistant to Governor Nyesom Wike on Electronic Media, Mr Simeon Nwakaudu, yesterday.

Suspected killer of UniJos lecturer nabbed as kidnapped daughter rescued (Vanguard)
One of the suspected killers of Dr Mandi Drenkat, a lecturer with the University of Jos has been arrested at the Babale area of Jos North local government area of Plateau State.
The suspect, identified as Ali Mohammed was arrested with one AK 47 rifle and a kidnap victim in their den named Chiboze Joseph rescued unhurt.
It would be recalled that the late Dr Drenkat was shot in his home at the University of Jos Senior Staff Quarters on Friday night and his six years old daughter kidnapped but subsequently rescued by the Police. Read more

New Zealand restaurants can now seat a maximum of 100 customers, if groups are separated by at least a metre.

A Canadian Air Force jet crashed into a home while on a tribute tour for coronavirus front-line workers — leaving at least one person dead and another seriously injured, authorities and witnesses said.
The Royal Canadian Air Force said a Snowbirds plane — Canada’s equivalent of the US Navy’s Blue Angels — went down in Kamloops, northeast of Vancouver.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce that one member of the CF Snowbirds team has died and one has sustained serious injuries,” the RCAF tweeted. Read more

Biologists in Canada have developed a new tool to sequence circular DNA and provide more accurate intelligence on how to fight some of the major scourges facing humanity, such as cancers and viruses.
Researchers at the University of Alberta have developed a tool called Circular DNA enrichment sequencing or ‘CIDER-Seq’ for short.
The high-tech package is powered by the DNA sequencing technology PacBio and was made available online, free-to-use, along with step-by-step guides for how to sequence the DNA, to help expedite work in numerous fields of research from cutting edge cancer studies to agricultural science. Read more

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has declared its intention to get the best possible coach for the Super Falcons no matter where the person comes from.
NFF President, Amaju Pinnick disclosed at the weekend that Pricewaterhouse (PWC), which has been given the contract to recruit coaches for the national male and women teams, has drawn out well-structured criteria the coaches must meet to manage any of the teams, adding that the federation is doing everything possible to ensure the Super Falcons get a manager that can keep them of top of African football.
“The Super Falcons’ coaching job is open to Nigerian and expatriate coaches, who must meet the standard set by PWC,” Pinnick said, adding, “the company has what it takes to pick the best among the list of applicants. Read more

Basketball legend Michael Jordan’s autographed trainers from 1985 sold for a record $560,000 (£463,000) in an online auction.
The Nike Air Jordan 1s, worn by Jordan during his rookie season with the Chicago Bulls, were expected to fetch between $100,00-$150,000 at Sotheby’s.
The previous record was $437,500 for a pair of Nike’s 1972 Moon Shoes.

NFL star Ed Oliver arrested for drunk driving while unlawfully carrying a weapon (RT)
Buffalo Bills star Ed Oliver is the latest NFL player to land himself in hot water with the law this week after the former first-round NFL Draft pick was arrested on charges of DWI and illegal possession of a firearm.
Oliver was arrested late on Saturday in Maryland and booked in the Montgomery County Jail for the two charges, both of which are misdemeanors.
According to the Montgomery County Police report, a member of the public reported that a white Ford Superduty vehicle was being driven erratically through a construction zone and was described by the caller as “failing to maintain a lane and driving dangerously,” according to the report. Read more
