The new Alien film has finally rounded out its cast, and it has got actors from The Batman and Shadow and Bone in the lineup too.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, David Jonsson (Industry), Shadow and Bone’s Archie Renaux, The Batman’s Spike Fearn and actress-producer Aileen Wu have all joined Mare of Easttown’s Cailee Spaeny in the latest instalment of the science fiction-horror franchise.
The film is being directed by Fede Alvarez, who has films like Don’t Breathe and the remake of Evil Dead under his belt. Production will begin in Budapest on March 9.
Alvarez has co written the script with his frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues.
While plot details remain a closely-held secret for Alvarez and his team, this new Alien movie will take a markedly different approach to the sci-fi franchise.
This currently-untitled sequel will shift the focus towards a group of young people under siege from the Xenomorphs and their face-hugger offspring, instead of pitting the aliens against a military or corporate threat.
Meanwhile, in the world of Batman, it was recently announced that the Robert Pattinson-starrer will be getting a second instalment, and it will be called The Batman Part II. The film will be released in cinemas on October 3, 2025.
The news was unveiled by new DC bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran, where they also confirmed that the film will be part of a separate timeline, which will be called the DC Elseworlds.
As for Shadow and Bone, there is not long until season 2 arrives. The second season comes to Netflix on March 16, 2023. (DigitalSpy)
