New song “Balance” by Simi out on Thursday – Dafieta Ighohwo

Nigerian artiste and songwriter, Simisola Kosoko, popularly called Simi took to her verified Instagram account Monday to announce the release of yet another song.

Fans have barely recovered from her latest single, “Woman” and she is set to dazzle them with one more on Thursday.

“New new this Thursday #Balance

#SimiArmy on your mark

#CallMeSimiVibez”, Simi shared with her over nine million followers prompting reactions and comments from her Insta family.

While some fans expressed their anticipation and readiness for the song’s release others hailed the artiste. A particular fan identified as shizzy005 described her as his “number 1 African female artiste”, while Simi’s husband and fellow musician, Adekunle Gold commented “Gbedu toh nasty” on the post.

The 33-year old singer and CEO of Studio Brat started as a gospel artiste with her debut album “Ogaju” in 2008. She came into the limelight later in 2014 for her single “Tiff” which was nominated for Best Alternative Song at the 2015 edition of The Headies.

The singer has grown in her art and has won various awards including The Headies Award for Album of the Year (2018), The Future Awards Africa Prize for Music (2018), The Headies Award for Best Collabo (2016, 2021) and so on.

With a total of 30 nominations and 13 wins, her songs are “Love Don’t Care”, “Joromi”,

“Smile For Me”, “Duduke” and “Woman” amongst others.

In “Woman” Simi sings of the intimidation, misconceptions and stereotypes the female gender are embattled with. The #NobodyLikeWoman challenge, which heralded the single, thus provided an outlet for women to speak up about the many unsavory things that have been said about them. The song has become an anthem among fans who use it to appreciate the women in their lives. Still trending, it is hoped this new song, “Balance”, does as well.
