Newly employed bakery worker absconds with N350,000 in Lagos (Punch)
A worker with Tasty Loaf Bakery on Ajelogo Road, Mile 12, Lagos State, John Emeka, has allegedly absconded with the sum of N350,000 belonging to the bakery.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the suspect was seen on the company’s closed-circuit television camera fleeing with the funds, said to be the total sales for Wednesday, March 16, 2022.
Emeka, who recently assumed as a sales representative, was said to have disappeared with the money before closing time.

Chrisland: Police begin probe as school, parent disagree over alleged rape (Punch)
Chrisland Schools, Lagos State, has denied allegations that a 10-year-old primary six pupil was raped during the school’s participation in the World School Games at Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The female pupil was among 76 pupils that represented the school at the event, which was held between March 8 and 14, 2022.
A statement by a Member, Advisory Board, Chrisland Schools, Akin Fadeyi, titled, ‘Chrisland Children Remain Our Centre of Focus,’ said 71 of the pupils ensured untainted adherence to the school’s standards.

Man arrested over alleged N6.4m visa fraud (Guardian)
The Police on Tuesday arraigned a 40-year-old man, Vincent Uwala, before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, over alleged N6.4m visa fraud and forgery.
Uwala of no fixed residential address, is facing a three-count charge of fraud, stealing and forgery, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP Akpan Nko, told the court that the defendant committed the offences between Feb. 23 and March 3 at Iyana-Era area of Lagos.
Nko said that the defendant obtained the sum of N6.4m from the complainant, one Samuel Okpe under the pretence that he would help him secure Canada visa and admission for his three children. Read more
Mother sues son for attempting to strangle her

A 34-year-old man, Vincent Chikeluba on Tuesday, appeared before an Ojo magistrate court in Lagos, for attempting to strangle his mother, Mrs Chinwe Chikeluba.
The defendant, who appeared before Magistrate D. S. Odukoya, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of assault, stealing and causing a breach of the peace.
The prosecutor, Dr Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in February.
Uche said that Vincent allegedly stole his mother’s properties worth N125,000. Read more
Lady who raised false kidnap, rape alarm on Twitter arrested (DailyTrust)
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a young lady simply identified as Omotoyosi who reportedly raised a false alarm that she had been kidnapped and raped.
Omotoyosi had posted a tweet on her twitter page @_misteriouss that she was being kidnapped and raped.
The tweet posted at 7:15 am read, “I’m being kidnapped guys. I’m being raped. Number 78 Obayan Street Pako Akoka. Lagos.”
She also went ahead to post the number of the person who allegedly kidnapped her. Read more
Court quashes N1.7b money laundering charge against MD, Shibahwells Energy; Isaac Adewole, Kingsley Ananwude (Independent)
A Lagos Magistrates Court sitting at Ogba, Ikeja, has struck out money laundering charges brought against Isaac Adewole, MD, Shibahwells Energy, and a staff of Wema Bank Plc, Kingsley Ananwude, for lack of merit.
The presiding, Magistrate A.O. Layinka (Mrs.) discharged the defendants and struck out the charges following the legal advice from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Lagos State, that no prima facie case had been established against them.
It would be recalled that the defendants were arraigned in court on February 9, 2022, in Charge No. MIK/B/6/2022– Commissioner of Police vs. Adewole Isaac & Kingsley Ananwude, for alleged stealing and money laundering involving N1.7 billion.
After pleading not guilty, the court granted the defendants bail and then adjourned the case till March 15, 2022, for trial. Read more
Man in Police net for allegedly smashing daughter’s head on the floor (Independent)
Benedict Anieze, a 29 years-old man, has been arrested for allegedly smashing his one month-old daughter’s head on the floor at Idimu area of Lagos State.
The suspect was said to have allegedly committed the act after the quarrel he had with his wife a day before the incident.
It was gathered that the suspect was drunk the day he committed the offence and he also tried to set himself ablaze, but he was stopped because of the scream for help from the mother of the baby that attracted neighbours in their compound which eventually led to his arrest.
Anieze, the suspect who was paraded by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, before journalists on Thursday at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja, said the act was not intentional. Read more
Rape, Kidnapping: Toyosi Adesegun, 3 others for arraignment in Lagos (Independent)
The Lagos State Command is set to arraign one Toyosi Adesegun and two men over false allegations of rape and kidnapping.
Toyosi, with the handle, @_misteriouss had tweeted that “I’m being kidnapped guys. I’m being raped. Number 78 Obayan street, Pako, Akoka, Lagos”.
In another tweet, she later claimed it was false. She wrote, “it was false. I’m so sorry for this. Please stop calling and threatening the numbers”.
However, the police have taken up the case after she voluntarily presented herself at the police station. Read more
