The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) says it plans to partner the Franco-Anglophone Academy of Arts and Culture (LAFAAAC) to train Nigerians on film production through its training arm, the National Film Institute (NFI), Jos, Plateau.
The Managing Director of NFC, Dr Chidia Maduekwe, stated this in a statement by the corporation’s Director of Public Affairs, Mr Brian Etuk and issued to newsmen on Sunday in Abuja.
Maduekwe, in the statement, was quoted to have said this at a meeting between officials of the two institutions in Lagos.
He commended the efforts of the French Government and its agencies, for developing exceptional interest and commitment in supporting Nigerian creative, entertainment and learning institutions.
Maduekwe also extolled the efforts of LAFAAAC in the provision of specialised digital and online training opportunities across Africa.
He said that LAFAAAC’s invitation to the NFC to explore wider training opportunities for Nigerians was apt, desirable and achievable.
“The NFC, through its training arm, the National Film Institute (NFI) has undergone great transformation to be able to support and undertake the training initiatives and modules of LAFAAAC.
“Some of the transformation includes the expansion of its academic curriculum, as well as the recently introduced Masters degree programme in Film Culture and Archival Studies being run in collaboration with other Nigerian and German academic institutions,” he said.
On his part, the Leader of the LAFAAAC delegation, Mr Christopher Pecot, who is also the French Audio-visual Attaché in Nigeria, described the untapped creative ingenuity among youths of Nigeria as monumental.
Pecot, however, called for the need and deliberate efforts, to harvest them through partnerships and collaborations.
