Nigeria announces 118 new cases of COVID-19 and 357 more recoveries

Tthe Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 118 new cases of COVID-19 and 357 more recoveries on Tuesday.

In a Twitter statement, the government agency, said there are now 59,583 confirmed cases of people infected with the disease caused by the novel coronavirus in Nigeria.

It added that an additional 357 people have been discharged from hospital since Monday bringing the total to 51,308.

The death toll, it stated, stayed the same, at 1,113 with no new deaths from the respiratory disease.

Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, in its October 6  COVID19 update in Africa on Twitter said the total umber of cases on the continent is 1, 519, 043, while total deaths is 36, 933 and 1, 257, 077 have so far recovered.

Meanwhile, over 35 million confirmed cases have been reported in 188 countries and more than one million people have died from the virus.

According to a tally by the Johns Hopkins University, 35,4399, 933 infections have been confirmed worldwide, while 1,043,976 have died.
