Nigeria confirms 120 new COVID-19 cases

Nigeria’s confirmed cases of coronavirus reached 59,465 on Monday night with 120 fresh infections reported by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in its latest update.

Making the announcement via its Twitter handle, the government agency said 50,951 previously reported cases are now recovered and discharged.

Nigeria’s death toll from the coronavirus remains at 1,113.

An October 5 BBC update puts the total confirmed cases in Africa at 1,522,928 while the total number of deaths is now said to be 36,569.

Meanwhile, over 35 million confirmed cases have been reported in 188 countries and more than one million people have died from the virus.

According to a tally by the Johns Hopkins University, around the world coronavirus has claimed 1,037,094 lives, while a total of 35, 116, 590 infections have been confirmed.
