The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed a total number of 340 new COVID-19 coronavirus cases in the country.
The NCSC made the announcement Friday night via tweet.
It said the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria is now 51,304 with 37,885 patients discharged and 996 deaths recorded.
As of August 20, the confirmed coronavirus death toll on the African continent stood at 26,664.There are 1,148,849 confirmed infections and 871,590 recoveries, according to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.
Worldwide, the number of those diagnosed with COVID-19 has exceeded 22 million. According to Johns Hopkins University, the global total of confirmed coronavirus cases stands at more than 22.8 million. More than 797,000 people have died, while 14.6 million have recovered.
