Nigeria male, female volleyball leagues begins November 1 (Guardian)

The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has revealed that its maiden Premier League for male and female teams, earlier scheduled for this month, will now hold from November 1 to 10 at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua indoor sports Hall, Kaduna.

The President of the Federation, Musa Nimrod said the competitions suffered several postponements because Nigeria hosted the U-21 African Men’s Nation’s Cup in Abuja recently, adding that the preliminaries of team games ahead of the 2018 National Sports Festival in Abuja later next month, also affected the schedule.

He also noted that the league was moved to Kaduna by the League Management Committee to reduce cost since the federation could not get sponsors for the competition.

“The Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Indoor Sports Hall will witness two weeks of uninterrupted volleyball for both men and women. We are ready and all things being equal, the league should be back next month,” he said.

He added that the league would promote volleyball in Nigeria and also unearth more talents who would represent Nigeria in future international engagements. Read more
