Nigeria has recorded 595 cases of the novel coronavirus disease, bringing the total infections in the country to 34,854.
The update by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) was made known via its twitter handle Thursday night.
The agency said that 769 deaths have so far been recorded in the country.
The number of those so far discharged after testing negative to the virus is 14,292.
Lagos recorded the highest number with 156 cases, followed by Ondo-95, Rivers-53, Abia-43, Oyo-38, Enugu-29, Edo-24, FCT-23, Kaduna-20, Akwa Ibom-17, Anambra-17, Osun-17, Ogun-14, Kano-13 and Imo-11. Other states are: Delta-6, Ekiti-5, Gombe-4, Plateau-4, Cross River-2, Adamawa-1, Bauchi-1, Jigawa-1 and Yobe-1.
As of July 16, the confirmed coronavirus death toll on the continent stood at 14,044.There are 644,255 confirmed infections and 334,547 recoveries, according to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.
More than 13.7 million people around the world have been diagnosed with COVID-19, while more than 7.7 million have recovered and more than 588,000 have died, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
